Nokia X6 is the latest X-series smartphone offered by the Finnish smartphone vendor. The device is the first from Nokia to feature a notched-scree design display, which  was popularised by Apple. The smartphone also sports a fingerprint reader which is slotted at the back and below the dual rear camera setup.

The HMD Global has just announced the much-rumored Nokia X6 handset. This device has been announced in China, and it’s exactly what we’ve expected, as a ton of images surfaced prior to the phone’s launch, along with additional info. In any case, the Nokia X6 is made out of metal and glass, while it sports a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. This smartphone comes with a vertically-aligned dual camera setup on the back, below which you’ll notice an LED flash. Nokia’s branding is included both on the phone’s front and back sides, while the device’s display sports rounded corners.

Main disadvantages:

1.X6 is still quite pricey (around 500 euro at the time of writing)

2.UI is still immature with somewhat inconsistent user experience

3.Touch web browser not quite polished and with dodgy Flash support

4.No voice-guided navigation license

5.No office document viewer preinstalled

6.Doesn’t charge off microUSB

7.Very poor sunlight legibility

8.Slow image gallery

9.No DivX/XviD support for the video player

10.No microSD card slot (as a connectivity solution)

As you can see in the two lists above there is almost nothing new in the software package, so it all falls on the hardware to justify the high asking price. The well-stuffed retail package is a great place to start but does the capacitive screen improve usability enough to be worth the extra money over, say, the 5800 XpressMusic? And the difference in price is by no means trivial.

From the outside, the new phone should resemble the Nokia 7 Plus that debuted earlier this year. So the Nokia X6 could be a region-specific release for Asia. The difference, and it’s a major one, is that the Nokia X6 appears to have a notch at the top of its display.

A leaked press render surfaced on Baidu, though there’s no way for us to tell how authentic it is. It could indeed show the Nokia X6, or it could be someone lazily modifying the Nokia 7 Plus. Fortunately, we’ll find out the truth tomorrow.

In some of the images shared on Weibo, the smartphone is also seen with a 3.5mm headphone jack, so don’t expect to be the thinnest device around.
As for the price, the smartphone is rumoured to come at a price tag of around $250. It is not for sure if the device will fall under Google’s Android One umbrella or will sport the regular Android OS version. Whatever might be the case, we may hear more about it real soon.
